The business of erotica is interesting. While a business in the business-sense, it is, after all erotica. So there are many interesting juxtapositions between writing erotica and the business of proofing, editing, design and promotion of said erotica. Just as any other genre. Just as any other business.
However, it never fails to make me giggle when the aforementioned worlds collide. Case in point: I have an editor who, well, edits my work. And yes, if you're wondering, erotica writers utilize the invaluable skills of editors as well. My editor is hard-core...and not erotica hard-core...hard-core as she is a librarian (retired) and worked for many moons as an editor for the Big-6. And she's prim. If you've seen the HBO documentary Cat House about the Moonlight Bunny ranch, she is my Madame Suzette. All business and prim as hell. But she's an amazing editor who keeps my i's dotted, t's crossed and cocks in a row.
Last week she called me. I am editing the fourth volume of my book in the Ties That Bind Chronicles and she said (direct quote)
"Fourth paragraph, second sentence--remove one of those cocks please. Thank you. Good-bye."
And that was that.

Welcome
I just wanted to introduce myself to you all and hope you enjoy my blog. My editor was shocked...or at least feigned shock...that I did not have a blog before a few days ago. This is my first post and I have to tell you it's making me feel a tad self-conscious. I feel like I'm talking to myself.
Which led me to think that one of the reasons I became a writer was so I would not talk to myself. And not in that making a grocery list out loud way, but in the drooling, rocking in the corner way. Writing, since I was ten, has been a means to get all the "junk" out of my head. And I tell you, through horrid relationships, money issues, other sad stuff that you don't want to hear about, well, writing has honestly been my lifeline. When I go through sour patches (not the candy, although I do love them), I regurgitate it all out onto the paper. And while it's not the unicornian fix that makes all the bad stuff go away, it really does help. And we all go through it...yeah, even you :)
So to get what may have you squeegy out of the way, I do write erotica books. But, if I haven't lost you, I also write mainstream stuff. I write erotica for the same reasons I write my other books, it's a fun way to get into (no pun intended) a different character. And also to share some of my experiences that I'm too chicken to come right out and tell you about. So with that, I hope you enjoy it here. Please drop me a line...I love to meet people. I'll share some of my books with you and the writings of some people that have really made an impact on my life. And I hope you'll share with me too.
